In-service Training for 3 Days– Cheranmahadevi

An in-service training was conducted for 3 days 28th September to 30th September and 1st October at SCAD Teacher Training Institute Cheranmahadevi. This training was exclusively for the teachers of Good Shepherd Model School. All the staff attended the meeting.

28.09.2013:

The teachers were given a warm welcome by the Principal staff and the students of the Institution. To start with the Principal introduced the staff, and then spoke about the CCE. She insisted the importance of the class-room atmosphere, preparation for the classes, evaluation of different skills, attitudes, intelligence, health etc... We should realize – how, when, why, what, where to evaluate. To look into personality development and leadership qualities. Evaluation must be a continuous process.

She spoke about tools and Techniques of Formative and Summative Assessments and finally the method of assessments for differently able Children.

Activity Based Learning (ABL) the popular subject teachers demonstrated the method of activities and the cards preparation.

30.09.2013:

The session started with the explanation of Psychology, experiments by the Principal with different equipments. Our teachers also used these equipments and gained certain experiments.

Teachers Learning Materials (TLM). The materials were exhibited in a very colourful way, dolls, flower neatly arranged, charts, models, painting were few of the exhibits. It was really encouraging. The teachers also gave a demo of these materials.

01.10.2013:

The third day session started with Yoga class. Dr.Thomas Jeyakumar conducted the class. He spoke about the importance of Yoga and Meditation. He taught a few asnas and asks the teachers to do them and to follow them in the coming days. He also said the certain asanas will cure particular diseases.

Life skills:

All the three days we had demo classes in different skills. The students of the training institute taught to do many hand works like Doll making, Stuffing dogs, Chicks tomato and Painting. Our teachers were formed in groups and made different items. The students gave a cultural programme, songs, dances, comedy scenes and skit etc...  This was really entertaining?

To conclude the three day training was very much useful to the teachers.
